    Default Wickham.

What do we think of him so far then?

I hope he comes good over the next few seasons. At present he looks completely out of his depth but that is understandable when you consider his age.

Could £8m have been spent elsewhere? I think that although I can recognise his potential, it may have been better spent on a left back or left winger.

I actually thought he looked canny when he came on yesterday.

Only like 18/19 so plenty of time to get his act together.

I don't know what the board were thinking sanctioning an £8m transfer for a player who is clearly not ready, especially when money is clearly tight at the moment.

We sold Henderson because we thought buying players who could perform now rather than those with potential would be more beneficial for us, then we sign Wickham! Don't get me wrong not his fault and I'll support him 100%, but as you say we'd have been better of buying a proven left winger/striker.

This. I like the lad but Jesus Wept paying that kind of money for a lad who isn't really going to make an impact for 1 or 2 years when we're desperately lacking in other areas is utter stupidity.

The thing is we haven't paid anywhere near 8 million quid yet, there are loads of clauses based on appearances, goals, international appearances...

We have. £8m was the initial fee. The add ons can see it rise to over £12m

How typical. When we signed him this board was full of posts saying what a great deal it could be as long as he's given time. Unfortunately for the armchair warriors, footy manager trophy winners and "the world didn't exist before Sky TV" brigade on here given time means about 48 hours after joining.
