    Default Jonestown massacre

Just watched an excellent documentary about this called, Jonestown:The life and death of the peoples temple, I highly reccommend anyone to watch this, I think you can watch it on youtube.
Over 900 people died in a mass suicide, these people were in a religous cult led by Jim Jones, he was the person who ordered the suicides. Im really suprised that many don't know about this tragedy nowadays.

Very scary listening to them, in one of them you can hear jim jones calling out for everyone to die and in the background you can hear young children crying.

The film footage shot by the news team at the airport, when they were trying to leave but were attacked by Jones' armed guards, is pretty chilling too

How do you know that many don't know about it? and even if that's true why or how should people know about it? people that weren't born when it happened.

If it had happened in the UK maybe, but Americans in the Caribbean in the 70's isn't something that is going to be taught in schools here I wouldn't have thought. Unless as part of religious education I suppose, but they never focussed on the nuttier side of religion when I was at school, but on reflection and halfway through my sentence they might nowadays, given the predominance of it.

I remember the photgraphs in the Sunday Times magazine back then ... morbidly fascinating for a young lad.

To be honest I was referring to people who wernt born when it happened. I don't know why but there dosn't seem to be much discussion on it, or have I seen many documentaries on the TV about it, even though it is a really fascinating subject. It would be quite an interesting topic to base a film on IMO.

Was it a huge story in the UK when it happened?
