Default Just me that noticed that

a half decent save by a keeper is described as world class, superb save etc but commentators and pundits.

Seem to have crept into the game the past few year and getting worse, sometimes the most routine save is described as a excellent save

    Just me that noticed it?

No, I've noticed it as well. I was bored as fuck during the week and watched highlights of Scotland v Denmark and the commentators kept going on about the Scotland keeper- every save, even the most routine, was greeted with "another great save" and at least 2 of the saves were described as "world class". They didnt say so much when he cost his side a goal like.

When hearing commentators going on about a save, I tend to think to myself "what would you have said had the keeper let it in?", if I think it would have been seen as a keeping error had it gone in, then it can hardly be a great save, its merely routine. Very few saves are genuinely top drawer but aye, commentators would like to have you tihnk otherwise

Like this save from Mignolet getting described as "insane reflexes" and the Belgian commentators going mad?

    Standard save for me, like.

It's the same when they say an excellent strike from a player that goes straight at the keeper when in reality it's a shit effort with pace.

When a goal goes in they often do the same as well. That Danny Rose lad scored a goal against Arsenal and the commentators were wanking over it at the time, it was mentioned as a possible goal of the season contender but every time i watched it i just thought "the keeper should have had that all day long"

Sometimes when a brilliant effort is saved, the commentators give off the impression that the save simply must be better than the effort. Never quite got that.

The simple solution is not to take anything commentators/pundits say too literally, as a lot of them are useless.

And when they say an excellent penalty simply because the keeper goes the wrong way.

I assume the commentators just try to make games sound more exciting by upping their descriptions of routine things.... I know I would if I was watching dross like the Faroe Islands or something
