The new samsung galaxy tab
Samsung taking a leaf out of Apples book and being restrictive by not integrating an SD card slot, and I read the USB port isn't in host mode so it'll likely only work with certain devices or to communicate with the device.
I'm not wishing the bang the Apple drum here, but when is someone going to come up with a device to truly rival the iPad?
The Samsung Galaxy Tab doesn't do it
The HP Tablet doesn't do it
The only thing that comes close for me is the Asus Transformer, which doesn't really offer the bling apeal of the iPad, but has some good functionality. The downside being as that some don't like using Android as a laptop OS.
On the topic of Android, I've read an article today that says now that phone manufacturers are more or less all using Android, it's getting hard for each manufacturer to differentiate their phones from others. They're also apparently not seeing an increase in their bottom line despite Android taking up a huge market share. At this rate I can see some of the larger manufacturers going back to developing their own OS'

Re: The new samsung galaxy tab
Littlened... you are talking about the NEW Galaxy 10.1 and not the older model...
After yesterdays questions I had a scan about... most comparison sites have both the new one and ipad 2 on par

Re: The new samsung galaxy tab
I've said all along that the apple tablet is probably the best out there. Even their prices are decent.
I guess one of the reasons that nobody has done anything really impressive to beat the iPad is that really, Tablet computers are nearly pointless, and being flashy and showy-off is their main purpose.

Yeh the new one.
People slate Apple because apparently the iPad is less functional than others, but then they release the new Tab with no SD slot, and a USB port that you can't really use to plug anything into it.
Performance and the OS are decent enough. It's the same price as the iPad as well, which again is a huge fail. The iPad is the market leader, so for £399 you can have the market leading device, or the Tab. It's like offering a ford focus for the same price as a BMW 1 series, most people are going to choose the BMW over the Focus.
I suppose my point is, why can't anyone else come up with a device to really rival the iPad, rather than just producing a load of has beens.
The Blackberry playbook will do well in enterprise environments, hardly any apps and rushed out.
The HP is just a pile of turd, hardly any apps and it's not all that good (rushed out)
The Asus Transformer is decent
The Galaxy Tab is decent enough as well

Jailbroken I think the iPAD is great... I mentioned a while back I wasnt too happy about the shelf life/quality of some of their recent mobile products.. (crap screens, white screen of death) Give me an Apple laptop/PC any day, but the prices I cannot justify (or even work out)
At least Apple have a storefront where you can take your device and complain about it.. Samsung dont have that

I do agree with that mind, if I were in the market for one I'd get one of those two.

I'm not trying to start a debate on how Apple is better than everyone else, I want to discuss why others can't seem to produce anything to topple Apple

When it comes to tablets, other decent tablets are around the same price. PC's though, yes, more expensive to an extent. But really you should compare the price to premium PC manufacturers. i.e. dell have just release a premium laptop that's about £1500

Still makes me laugh how people can come onto a thread in a 'broad and varied' discussion forum and nitpick/criticise threads they have no interest in, and find boring, yet still they find the time to post in them.
