Question for Dog Owners.

If ya Dog suddenly starts limping, do you:

a. take him to the vet straight away (after you have checked his paws for things stuck in)
or
B. Give it a couple of days, see if he stops limping, if not then take him to vets?

Reason i ask is, had the dog on a walk this morning, she went running through the grave yard then we walked home, she was nackered but ne limping, when we got in the house she went and sat in the yard, about an hour later she walked in the living room with a git limp (looks like the front right)

I lifted her leg and gently moved the joint and she semed ok, i then exmined the paw but didnt find nowt, although when i went inbetween the pads she puylled her leg away.

She doesnt look like shes in pain and is still walking around wagging her tail, but i was ganna book an appointment straight away for tommorra morning.

When i got to work i was talking to my mate who breeds dogs and has 7 labs, he says give it a few days first and see what its like then.

Loads of dog owners on here so thought i'd ask you.

Happened to my dog, gave it a couple of days, was fine.

If she's still limping tomorrow morning I would get her down to the vets.

Might clear itself up in a few days naturally but I'm always pretty cautious with mine because I'd feel like shit if I'd left her in pain for 72 hours.

If you can't see anything in her paw but she won't let you touch inbetween the pads then it might be a cut - could get infected if left so err on the side of caution I reckon.

listen to your mate. if there's no visible injury i doubt there's much a vet can do other than pain relief. if your dogs letting you get hold of her paw and examine it, without yelping when you touch a hurt spot, i wouldnt worry about it.

next time you're out let her off the lead as normal and see what she does. if she's hurting she won't run.

Yer mates right, if there's nowt obvious she's probably just pulled a muscle. leave it for a couple of days she should be OK.
I've got a punk at the minute, he ran into the bushes down the dene and came back covered in blue streaks. He isn't going to the vets he's going in the fucking bath.

Give it a few days, you could even give her a painkiller. Ibuprofen honestly it will do no harm

Thats the thing i I took her on the green outside my house afor i came to work, she limped awa there had a piss then seen a dog and went to run towards it, it was arnly my super strength that stopped her lol, she seemed fine.

How old is she and how often is she excercised?

I'd bathe her foot in warm salted water, have her put her foot in a dish of it for a couple of minutes if she will do that. That should help to ward off any infection that might be lurking but if she's no better in a couple of days then yes, take her to the vet.

My elderly bitch had been limping on and off for a while and hated her feet being examined, I used to have a right wrestling match to look at the nails and pads. Turned out to be arthritis in her elbow and not a problem between her pads at all.

Vets must love the likes of me, wanting to take the dog to the vet for a limp, £70 to get towld to let her rest it for a couple of days
