It was live on TV. Definitely
The 1-1 windy game was absolutely 100% not on live, highlights were on later that afternoon.

    Your right.

Think the first live one was the pissing down one. Got beat 1-0. Their fans were singing Terry Butcher on the dole.

My earliest derby memory is listening to the play-offs on the radio. The first one I went to was when away fans were banned from Roker. it was a good atmosphere but strange not having away fans, though I did think it was great having 22,000 people giving Alan Shearer abuse. Then I went to the first few at SoL and the beambacks. Haven't been to one for ages but just got my ticket today.

    Spot on.

There was another match on that day that was nearly called off due to the weather. If it had have been, then we would have been on live.

My memory of that match is Marco scoring, McGhee equalising and then me going out the back instead of watching the last 12 minutes and the coppers laughing like fuck.

Always thought the atmosphere at their ground was shite, with no roof on. Even the play off match, didn't hear anything from them.

My first derby experience was the 1st 2-1 in the rain watching it at the beamback with me Dar. Weird experience with no teams there but the atmosphere was class, with bloke running on the pitch doing Klinsmanns on the plastic pitch cover up to the screen!! On the way back over its seemed like everyone had their shirts off singing and jumping all over!!

The home game was incredible. I'd never experienced noise like that, I could'nt even hear what me Mar & Dar were saying to me and I was stood next to them!! Was sat in the south stand to the right of the scum near the front of the stand. When they scored a mag put his arm up so a load of blokes behind went fucking mental telling the stewards to get him out or he'd get a kicking que the stewards doing jack shit. When they scored the second he did it again so about 6 blokes came pilling over the seats literally over peoples heads and kicked the living daylights out of the daft mag. The stewards just stood looking clueless and one of the lads shouted over "fucking warned ya's" then they calmly walked back to their seats and watched the rest of the match! When Super Kev got that equaliser I just remember ending up about 5 rows infront under some fat bloke!! The place went mental and a few years back I read a match review by a geordie who said along the lines of ive got to admit the atmosphere was frightening, hats off to the mackems!!

Cant wait for the 20th think this could be special!! FTM

The 2-1's. 2-2 at the SoL. Andy O-Brian scoring in the last fucking minute to earn them a point after we battered them. 1-1 Bellamy's debut. Them winning 1-0 when Dabizas scored the winner and Given pulled off a brilliant save from Phillips. 2-0 Shearer Headband, them scoring after about four bastard seconds it seemed. Them winning 1-0 again when Solano scored a penalty and we had a last minute equaliser disallowed after Flo threw Given to the floor. I remember celebrating like mad, then looking over to see them sarcastically waving. It was awful. 3-2 at SJP Elliott and Lawrence wonder-goals. The 4-fucking-1. 1-1 Higgy. 2-0 where Mcshane was fucking woeful. 2-1 at the SoL GERRRINNNN!!!! 1-1 Taylor dive. the 5-fucking-1. 1-1 where Gyan saved us.

Bar the occasional glimmer of hope in games against them. I think it's fair to say my record against the scum is shite. Good win on August 20th will do it wonders though.

We must have one of the worst local derby records in recent years and decades compared to the other big derbys in the country? One home win since 1981 is bananas. Bring on August 20th

    Sadly very true.

Don't think there is a more one-sided derby if you look at results in the last 30 years. Even Man City have done a lot better against united comparatively.
