Have been to watch St Pauli in Hamburg, great day out.
SV Hamburg has a fantastic stadium (not as good as SoL)
August 27th home game against Koln which should be a home win.

6 of us went over in February and the game we watched was against Cologne (Koln). Great trip and as has been said it's an excellent stadium. Game finished 6-2 to Hamburg but the 3000 Cologne fans in the away end were loud all game. German football is a completely different experience than over here. Well worth a trip.

Also the game started at 3.30 not 2.30. In Feb we are an hour behind Germany so it said 2.30 on the bbc sport page but it was defo a 3.30 kick off.

This. Get there early enjoy the drinks and barbecue in the car park and enjoy the atmosphere, I found the whole match day experience one of the best.

Cheap as chips to get in too.

This for me as well....went to Hertha v Bayern a few years back and it was brilliant. Olympic Stadium is a cracking ground plus the atmosphere in the area outside the ground pre game with the bars, BBQs etc is fantastic. Doddle to get there and back on the tube as well.

Most hardcore areas tend to sell out quicker and are the cheapest, learn a few lines of German even if your just trying to find the bar/toilet.it will make the difference. If you try they are quite acomodating and will speak English if you don't try they won't bother much unless they know you.

Disclaimer yes I know I'm generalising on the language bit!
