Laptop Hardware help!

I'm guessing my hard drive has completely died as BIOS still loads but it goes no further with a clicking noise around where the hard drive is,

Is this an expensive repair?
And my windows 7 was installed onto there by the upgrade but i have no copy of the license key etc etc


What should i do, apart from format the fucker, as i wish i could.

Won't matter if you format it, the drive is physically fucked.

Buy a new one off ebay.

Sounds like your HDD is fucked, hope you backed your contents up, licence key should be on the underside of laptop

My 250 hard drive cost £30 for a replacement.

Yeah nothing is backed up, but whatever who cares about the last 4 years of my life, the licence key is not on the bottom as thats a vista one, i upgraded from microsoft.com for windows 7, and i know the key meant i couldnt do i clean install. Arghh, plus i tried to take the dell xps 1330 apart and its a right cnut on!

If there are important things on the drive then there are ways to recover them but you'll pay in excess of £700 for the privilege.

Download a Windows 7 torrent and use an activation key, this can be done apparantely

But aye - Falcon computers on roker avenue should be able to fit you up with a drive with an operating system on it. I'd take that route.
