When did it become acceptable for people to get in the queue while their wife/husband/child/partner goes off to get the last 7 or 8 items they need? Really beginning to annoy me - it's incredibly selfish! Stood tonight behind a woman who had two daughters off running about getting about half of her shop while she stood there in line.

I (and anyone else in there on there own) do my shop and then queue. I don't mind getting to the checkout and then realising you've forgotten the bog roll but when your kids are getting more items than half the people behind you are buying it's not right... or should we have giant versions of Open All Hours Style corner shops, everyone waits while you ask for your items one at a time and the lad/lass behind the checkout goes running off to get them for you?

Exactly - a queue is both a work of art, a spiritual thing and one of the last true successful British designs...

Surely it doesn't matter unless they aren't finished shopping by the time they get to the chrckout?

They hadn't. Her stuff was halfway through before the kids brought the last couple of items. Good way of keeping a couple of under 10s from getting bored in the supermarket queue though, I guess...
