    On TV's n that.

Absolute essential or a complete waste of money?

(Daint worry, I've already accepted that whatever decision I make will be the wrong one. )

depends who's offering it.. never ever with currys and the big boys liek that

richer sounds ones are always very reasonable

if you do want extended warranties then buy one off a broker. loads on line.. will be at least half and often a aquarter of the price offered by the big chains

Probably shit advice but I always just stick with the manufacturers warranty. Bit of a fuck on if it breaks like and you have to get it sent back etc, but at least it doesnt cost you owt and you just assume it wont break. If it survives the first year then I tend to think it'll live for a while, so I never bother with any sort of extended warranty from the place I bought it, waste of money imo. Obviously if you're going for a really shite brand that neeones ever heard of and its about 90% cheaper than any other tele then I would suggest taking out an extended warranty, but if you're getting any fairly well known brand I wouldnt bother

surely, and i accept i may be wrong on this, contents insurance is a far better alternative?

you pay a little more per month/year but not only does it cover your electrical item but every other item in your home

its often far cheaper to stick it on your insurance if they do it and many do now

Exactly- I'm no expert but tend to think that the main fault it will have will be due to a fault when it was being made, and i would imagine faults of that type would tend to show themselves within the 12 month manufacturers warranty period. Obviously some will be faults that take ages to develop like, but i would imagine it is very rare, if there is something wrong (like some bit in the tele is overheating and will break leading to loss of picture or something) I doubt it will take 13 months to be noticed.

i took out my first insurance pol;icy last week, got contents insurance with more than, and it seems quite decent. £14 a month, £50 excess and cover up to £75,000 with an old for new guarantee.

it meant i got to cancel my phone insurance (13 quid a month) and it costs me only £1 extra per month to insure every possesion own. now i just hope some dodgy rascal burns down my house and i manage to get 75 grand to start again with

not quite mate, ive just got rid of a 4 year old Panasonic 42" plasma that cost me £900 new, just before xmas the picture started going off. Was gonna cost more the the TV was worth to repair it.
Typical that out of the 3 i have it was the only one without the 5 year warranty

If it's ganna break it will do when you first get it.

The length of time of breakdown after the warranty determines whether I claim on house insurance or just replace, it's usually the latter like
