    Default Any sparky type folk around

    Just had me mother on the phone whose not in the best of health panicking the cooker/telly and a few other electrical things have gone off in the house...

    Shes still got lights but is panicking as me dads away at the cricket until 7pm tonight and I am stuck here till 5..

    This must be summat simple but as I know nowt about electrics in the slightest havent the faintest idea what..

    Any help for when I manage to get there..?

    She's probably had them all on at once and tripped the breaker - the cooker should really be on it's own.

    For starters: does she know where the fuse-box is located?

    And do they have trip-switch fuses or the old fashioned sort that go pop?

    as others have said sounds like the breaker has tripped. if that is the case then you should really get it checked as the cooker should be on its own breaker, not on the same as the sockets.

    tell her to look at the consumer unit and look for one of the breaker switches pointing down whilst all the others should be pointing up. flip the breaker switch back on (upwards) and it should be back on.

    Aye but shes in nee fit state to actually get access to it herself and yes its the new style fuse box affair...............
