Anyone who is pushing for the departure of Steve Bruce...
...is either a naughty Mag or a dreamer.
Managers, no matter what business they are in are judged by results.
2001/2002 = 17th (above Ipswich, Derby, Leicester)
2002/2004 = 20th (no teams below us)
2003/2004 = not in prem
2004/2005 = not in prem
2005/2006 = 20th (no teams below us)
2006/2007 = not in prem
2007/2008 = 15th (above Bolton, Fulham, Reading, Birmingham, Derby)
2008/2009 = 16th (above Hull, Newcastle, Boro, West Brom)
Bruce - 2009/2010 = 13th (above Bolton, Wolves, Wigan, West Ham, Burnley, Hull, Portsmouth)
Bruce - 2010/2011 = 10th (above WBA, Newcastle, Stoke, Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan, Wolves, Birmingham, Blackpool, West Ham)
Steve Bruce is improving our position and maintaining our SKY revenue by keeping us in the Premier League. I would politely suggest his dissenters look long and hard at our history before they continue this ridiculous campaign to get him out.
Let's get behind the man and build on our stability in the Premier Legue (the toughest league in the World)

Sir Alex would not have done any better with the injuries we have suffered, well done Brucie, looking forward to next season already.

post SB's club management record up there and it's about the same as ours - he's never really done anything of note.
we got lucky with the results yesterday, though we played well ourselves too granted.

Re: Anyone who is pushing for the departure of Steve Bruce...
I've already written a mini essay on it all in the "Bruce Uber-Outers" thread. But you've gone and confirmed what I was getting at, we're progressively moving up, can't expect us to instantly get right up into the top 5, but Sunderland are getting there and Bruce has hit his targets.
I'm fully in support of the bloke, lets hope our luck isn't so bad next season and that we can climb a couple more spaces!

whilst most sunderland fans would consider this a 'bigger' club than any of those he's ever managed.
so he has been more successful than we have with less to work with, ie an improvement

Re: Anyone who is pushing for the departure of Steve Bruce...
We've progressed. We've made it into the top ten. Thats real progress. With no decision made to sack him, and then with breaking into the top ten, Bruce should be and will be given an opportunity to build on that next season.
But lets not pretend that he doesnt have some huge challenges ahead or that he hasnt made big mistakes in the season just past.
Its very easy to come out now with statements having a pop at people who want Bruce sacked, but the margins are incredibly fine.
Presumably if we had lost yesterday youd have been on saying that anyone who wanted Bruce to stay was a naughty mag or a dreamer?

Re: Anyone who is pushing for the departure of Steve Bruce...
I repeatedly backed him but eventually lost faith and patience some time ago, but at the end of the day its all about results, and he was in charge of the 10th best team in the league this season so fair play to him. For me he starts next season with a clean slate and my backing.

I disagree. I also think Ferguson would have made better decisions overall.

Re: Anyone who is pushing for the departure of Steve Bruce...
I wouldn't have thought he should be held to account for things he's done at other clubs, surely, what he does with us is what's important, and he's making us better.
Also, we surely can't call for his head for things he hasn't yet done.
