I was stunned lastnight, when the result came through. To see how clear-cut the result was. AGAIN.

Labour/Lib Dems in Newcastle, not much difference.
    2 points to make.
    1. Labour there will have to be very careful, incase they lose it again next time.
    2. Whoever is in, they'll get a better share of the regional pie than Sunderland.

Labour in Sunderland can again just fuck about. Resting easy in their beds. In the knowledge that how ever bad they do, the will vote them in again next time
Why is it always implied on ths forum that people only vote Labour because their dad did, but Tory voters always think things through very carefully before they cast theit vote?

Could it be that the voters in Sunderland simply don't want to vote Tory because they don't trust them?

But trust the idiots that have ran the shithole for the last 50 years ?
    Reetio.

    I never mentioned Tories BTW.
    Or parents.
And what I meant was even the threat of a defeat, may get their arses into gear.

Instead of the perennial election walkover, in Sunderland.

Or indeed find their politics more aligned with Labour?

Well why did you quote it then.
    I'm genuinely puzzled?

Isn't it the normal thing that a party in power always lose out in local elections?
It's just a way for folk to get back at the government, i wouldn't read it as the end of the lib-dems.

Labour councils have done a pretty fantastic job in Newcastle and deserve just as much credit as the Liberals (if not more credit given the amount of time the council has been Labour in Newcastle)

    (I'm not being sarcastic)
