The people who lived in our house before us were a bunch of chinese people. One of them keeps receiving letters from some random company claiming he owes them money.

We ignored the letters for ages, but they kept coming so we thought we'd have a look, anyway it was along the lines of 'you owe us £4k' - and a date for which to have replied/started repaying. The following letters were all the same, saying 'you owe us £4k' and moving the deadline back and back, but eventually threatening legal action.

Another letter came from the company. They are willing to settle for £600.

The large number loan sharks that set up during the credit boom are getting a wee bite on the arse these days it seems. 'New Labour, New Britain' I think the slogan went...or something along those lines.

Nothing to do with you.. either completely ignore it or send it back saying that the people are no longer at that address and you will report the company to the police for harrssment if you hear from them again..

If they send any more letters report them to the police..

My mate got knocked back for a mobile a few years back as he was living in a rented place and the address was black listed, i was in the phone shop with him and ended up getting talked into getting it in my name, but wit the bills coming out his bank.
1 year later while working abroad I start getting letters from debt agencys, the twat had cancelled his direct debit before cancelling his contract!
Last time i ever do that like, I rang him up kicking off asking for the money and he was like "just dont pay it, me cousins alwyas got debt collectors after him for money, they never do owt"

He well and truly done you up like a kipper. There's no such thing address black listing. Credit reports are based upon the individual and not an address. It was his own credit rating that was shit.
