Default Car help please - Diesel Smoking on Kick Down

Looking for some advice, as I'd like to fix this myself if poss.

Got a 54 plate Mondeo 2.0 TDCI that is chucking out a ton of black smoke if I accellerate hard.

It smokes a bit at high revs in general, but its always done that (although its 25% worse now), but its these massive plumes of black smoke that I'm worried about.

It never used to do this, its just in the last month or so.

I've heard that changing the fuel filter, and pre-filling it 50% with Forte can help to clean the injectors.
Also planning an oil change tomorrow, as despire a recent service, the oil looks very black.

Anything else simple that can be done before it goes into a garage?

Disclaimer: When I say "I want to fix", I mean I want to buy the stuff, and then get my dad to do it, as he's the car-man of the family, not me!

Instead of making another thread, I have a question about mine. When the car has been idle for a while when in neutral it seems to start in really high revs, sitting between 1.5k and 2k reves until I've been driving for a little bit and then if i come to a stop it sits just under 1k. IS this normal?

Piston rings or valve seals gone would be my guess, but I haven't put my head under a bonnet or looked at an engine for 16 years now so there is every chance I'm spouting complete shite, even though I am technically a qualified mechanic.

He knows about it - just trying to save him some time having to look into it (especially as I'd like to do it tomorrow)

I already feel like I'm taking the piss a bit by asking in the first place. If you know what I mean?

check the air filter take it out and iether replace it or hoover it out dont bother with the oil that wont cause your problem otherwise its duff exhaust valves injectors etc and expensive

the three colours are white smoke is unburnt fuel so injector prob, blue smoke is engine oil duff rings etc, or black smoke which is mixture problem(wrong air fuel thing) and/or injectors valves

PTR - Its possible that its the EGR Valve.

You can clean these pretty easily as a cheaper option to replacing them at first. Dont know if the valve sits in the manifold or not on a Mondeo.

I know of a Mobile mechanic who could probs clean it up for you - hoy a reply up if you want the number mate
