Anyone know owt about Skype?

Just had a word with Mrs Bresslaw and we're gonna have to tighten our belts. The car insurance has just doubled from £500 to £1000 cos I had my first bump in 28 years of drivin , the gas bill is now what our mortgage used to be and the season ticket renewal has just landed. We've already turned the rads off in the bairns rooms and we're looking at other savings.

I'm looking to get rid of me cable package altogether - just use the freeview, and get rid of the telephone.
The only person who uses it is Mrs Bresslaw to phone her sister so I'm looking into this skype thing. How does it work, and are there any costs? I've just found a phone that pugs straight into the broadband without the pc needing to be on - has anyone got one?

Also, any other ideas for saving money? She's already promised to stop going to Marksies for her taties and is going to use the bloke under Shields metro that sells his stuff from the allotment.

As long as you have an internet connection skype is completely free to call and video call other skype users. I use it all the time to speak to my old man and its always been spot on for me

She's got one of those sony errikson experios (sp?), I think you can get an anroid app that would turn it into a skype phone? Only I suppose you'd have to have the pc on all the time.

maybe i,m old fashioned,

but l think its rather harsh turning the kids heating off, they should be the last to suffer

for your flamboyant lifestyle,

(unless there in there 20's and should have been evicted years ago !)

Have you got wireless and is the SE wireless enabled?
If so she won't need the PC on.

Skype is easy to install on your computer from the internet. If you call computer to computer it is free anywhere in the world. You can use a webcam with it so people can actually see you and vice versa if they have a camera. You can buy Skype credit to call landlines and mobiles for a fraction of the telephone companies costs. I use it fairly regularly and find it a good
way to keep in touch with friends and family.

She's got a small transistor radio she listens to in the bath, if that's what you mean?
