Beg to differ mate altho I agree with your overall point as for instance he didnt even play half of the games for Leeds in that season but hype that followed him and stuck since he packed in always suggests he saved the world single handed.....

Possibly, but for me Cantona was all about his utter dominance in games - he'd just sit in the centre of the opposition's half conducting arguably the Premier League's greatest ever attacking unit like an orchestra.

Bergkamp was more about producing moments of utter brilliance - a turn to create a chance out of nowt, an unbelievable threaded pass, sublime control and quick shot etc. However, if Arsenal were under the cosh then Bergkamp would be subdued.

They're both up there though - you could probably make a case for Zola, Schmeichel, Henry and (tin hat on) Shearer anarl.

Shearer was a great striker, nee point in saying otherwise.

He's still a massive wanker though.

He was but the true greats are 'great players' they have everything in their locker, Shearer didn't.

He willl, but this thread was about the greatest players of all time not an average England's greatest centre forwards.

Well ones a goalkeeper, and I think that would have be a different disussion and I haven't heard anybody saying Gert Muller was the greatest player of all time.

Not on this thread, but he's often considered to be up there.

Franz Beckenbauer and Bobby Moore aren't 'complete' footballers either.
