Elmohamady - Signing permanently next week?

English Premier League side Sunderland have made an offer to sign Ahmed Elmohamady on a permanent basis, Egyptian club ENPPI announced on Tuesday.

“Sunderland sent us a fax today asking to turn Elmohamady’s loan deal into a permanent one,” ENPPI football director Alaa Abdel-Sadek told Ahram Online.

“They will invoke a clause that will see them sign Elmohamady for 2 million pounds sterling.”

Elmohamady has established himself at the Black Cats ever since he joined them from ENPPI on a season-long loan last summer.

His pinpoint crosses, penetration and pace earned him a regular place on the right side of Sunderland’s defence and midfield.

“Sunderland’s general manager will arrive in Cairo next week to finalize the deal. According to that deal, ENPPI will receive 20% of any future transfer for Elmohamady,” Abdel-Sadek added.

The 23-year-old said recently he was eager to prolong his stay in the elite Premier League, a competition he joined after tackling ENPPI’s stubbornness to release him.

Sunderland coach Steve Bruce also said he was keen to hold onto the Egyptian international winger, who has yet to score his maiden English goal.

He has something like, however hes going to need alot of coaching to get more use out his speed.

He does show a lot of potential to be fair. It's his first season in the Prem anarl, so we should get a better idea of how good he is next season.

I suppose at least at the start of next season, we'll be able to say we have a right winger on our books. Personally I don't like the idea of so many loan players in the first team, we need some degree of continuity going from one season to the next.

At £2m, in today's world it's a snip considering we've had a look at him, he can cover a couple of positions, probably won't be on massive wages and wants to be here.
