The Premier League Powershift
With the new financial rules coming in shortly there will undoubtedly be a huge shift in power in the premier league. The owners who have previously been bankrolling their clubs will soon not be allowed to buy players they would have previously financed themselves through investment in the club. Can anyone else see clubs like Fulham, Wigan, Bolton struggling and clubs like wolves, west ham, WBA (if they where to stay up) capitalising
It would also seem to put a stop to our investment which is probably why Quinny is trying to get people to the matches as it would help with our turn over which in turn would help with how much we could invest. If we can't get our turnover up power wise we will fall behind the likes of Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Spurs, Everton and even worse the Mags. Which in a best case scenario means that we will can invest only a fraction of what half the clubs in the league are doing. If this happens we will never finish in the top 5. This is why this season is so important and why quinny is trying to get as many fans into the stadium so we finish as high as possible. So our turn over is as high as possible so we can invest as much as possible when the rules come in. Because once they do if you are not already up their you never will be.

I just think it's typical really. We finally get some investment and this rule comes into place.

Re: The Premier League Powershift
does this new rule mean that clubs are likely to go mad this summer as its potentially the last summer they can rack up huge losses ? ie bank a squad of world beaters and then spend nowt for a few year ?

Re: The Premier League Powershift
So what if a benevolent donor decided to buy 20 corporate boxes for 5 million a piece? By benevolent donor, I mean a connected party to the club? Would that be allowed, and would it be classed as legitimate turnover by UEFA?

Re: The Premier League Powershift
I would guess so. Just look what happened in January. Prior to this season the most ever invested for ALL clubs combined in the league was about £20m this season I think it was about £160m.

Re: The Premier League Powershift
If you look in detail at the newe regulations there is no real need to panic. In the first 3 seasons from 2013 you can make up to a 45 million euro loss and then a 30 million euro loss over the next two seasons and they havent decided exactly what happens from 2018. SAFC did make a 20 off mill loss in the last set of acounts but that included Roy Keanes big spending but since Short / Bruce we have made profit in the transfer market and have increased our revenue streams a lot including the summer concerts etc.
Our next set of accounts will also look pretty bad but people shouldnt get carried away with that. They are from 2009/10 which included the large summer spend by Keane in 2009.

As this has been mentioned several times, I'm guessing UEFA have thought of this and their will probably be some clause written in to the rules stating that you must give value for services rendered or something along those lines.

Which is exactly why how well we finish this season is absolutely vital to our future plans. This is why we need a full stadium to get our revenue up and to inspire the team into performing so we can finish higher up the league receive more prize money so when it comes to investing we can be on par with clubs like, newcastle, villa, everton, liverpool etc.
