    Default Winter's Bone

Just watched this tonight, its got loads of praise but I thought it'd be your normal indie-darling film (bit dull, tedious, shit).

Turns out it's fucking fantastic, really enjoyed it and was fully engrossed.

Anyone else on here seen it?

Never heard of it until now.

Just watched the trailer on your recommendation... looks pretty good, gonna give it a go.

Thought it was rubbish. Could have done with subtitles too.

one of the most depressing films I've ever seen, must've missed something going on cause the story didnt make much sense. the lead actress gave a great performance but as far as I can see it's a load of critics wanking over not a whole lot

Don't know how you can say the story didn't make sense, I followed it pretty well and it seemed all reasonable/believable enough to me.

As I said in my OP, I thought it'd be a bit emperors new clothes, like you get with a lot of much-praised indies, however I thought it was cracking.

Prob phrased that a bit wrong, not that it didn't make sense just that the story for what it was wasnt much of a story so that when it finished apart from being thoroughly depressed I was just thinking, is that it?!?

I was a bit disappointed with it.

Rapturous critical reception but I was underwhelmed TBH.

Book's fantastic. Daniel Woodrell's a great writer. 'The Death of Sweet Mister' is an even better book of his.

I thought it was ok, some good acting performances, overall a bit boring though
