Get them for as little as £5 on ebay for a second hand one. Depends what capacity you are after and if you want a new one.

Can it not just be re-imaged?

Depends on what size you want really/what operating system you use. I wouldn't recommend anything lower than a 120gb HDD these days if you are running vista/win7

Nope, won't see the disk and is clicking on every turn. Had a few hard drive error messages of late, now it has rapped in.

I was getting the messages a few weeks back. Backed up to an external hard drive then reinstalled windows and its back up and running.
