...Ghanaians are upset with him because of his many excuses. Being used as Jose's supersub was not working for him because he was losing form and getting fatter and fatter. Inter fans saw his lost of form and turned on him (forgetting the praises they were giving him just a few months before). Muntari's problem with Ghana was about to hit a new level. During a game (I think it was a WCQ), Muntari's then girlfriend (now wife) tried to go to the dressing room but was stopped by the officer on duty. She claimed the officer man-handled her so Muntari demanded an apology from Ghana police, when they refused...he demanded one from the GFA. Ghanaians were not having it...his name was all over the radios and tvs.
Somewhere in Egypt, Ghana U20 boys were winning the U20 WC, even beating England 4-0 (sorry I gotta put that in. ), Ghanaians were happy and some wanted the old boys like Muntari replace with the new boys. Ghanaians were also not happy with the amount of bonuses the players get for every WCQ. So the next WCQ, the sports minister tried to talk to the players to see if they will accept a bonus cut but mistakenly said "if you guys don't want to play, we will go get the U20 boys to play". Muntari stood up and mouth off the sports minister, saying "Go get them then". Although Ghana won that game 1-0 with Muntari assisting with a sweet cross, Sess and his Benin boys outplayed Ghana and were very unlucky to draw or win. This time, Ghanaians had had it with Muntari and wanted him gone. Then, his mom put more wood in the fire by going on a radio to say "No Muntari, No Blackstar".
Meanwhile, back at inter, Muntari was still struggling to gain fitness. Ramadan came around, Muntari was fasting and was very unfit. Jose's was upset with Muntari's fitness and commented on it. Muslims world wide were upset with J.M... Muntari got dropped completely and started making late appearances in games.
Muntari, Gyan and Essien left Ghana camp during a friendly and the GFA decided to punish them. Gyan was first to apologize and pay the amount. Essien apologized (but not sure if he really paid the amount) but Muntari refused to apologize and therefore was dropped from subsequent games.
January 2010 - Muntari still not getting enough play time, ANC is coming up and Ghanaians wanted Muntari to convince Mario B. to play for Ghana. Then Ghanaian coach went to Italy to talk to both Muntari and Mario but Muntari didn't show up to the meeting. He was then dropped from the already depleted ANC squad. Ghana went on to win silver (losing to Egypt at the final). With A. Gyan scoring 3 goals.
Inter and Muntari won the CL but nobody cared for him any more. Not in Ghana, not in Italy. WC is approaching fast...Muntari's fitness is still a problem (he got injured during the final against Bayern Munich). Ghana still took him to the WC but didn't get a start in the first game. Second game against Australia, he came as a sub...news from camp says he later insulted the coach for not putting him early, but he denied it. He didn't get a start until Ghana played Uruguay (due to Ayew's suspension). Muntari scored Ghana's first goal but Ghana lost thanks to A. Gyan's last mins .
