Sunderland's pay scale
Hearing some of these daft salaries being talked about (eg. an old crock like Fuller wants £60k, Villa giving Bent a 40% rise, etc), how much longer can we maintain a conservative pay scale?
What is our current wage bill anyway, compared to those above us? |

Fuck knows most recent accounts aren't out yet.
What is the new rule about wages and revenue? Our wages year ending 2009 was higher then 70% which I'm sure has something to do with the new rules

presumably a lot of clubs will have to change the way they do things
have a lower basic but have bigger incentives..large bonuses that are not included as monthly wages or something maybe somethign we have been aiming for previously |

 Didn't we have the sixth/seventh biggest wage bill a while back? |

I read on Saturday somewhere that it was about £55m/year or 77% of turnover.

We have to try our best to keep a pay scale. No point trying to compete financially with Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and anyone else willing to pay silly money.
It will stop us becoming a top 4 club, but I dont mind as I'd be happy with comfortable seasons, top 10 and a challenge to get into Europe every year. Keeping a lid on salaries will keep most players happy in the dressing room, as there will be no 'special cases'. |
