    Default Sunderland's pay scale

Hearing some of these daft salaries being talked about (eg. an old crock like Fuller wants £60k, Villa giving Bent a 40% rise, etc), how much longer can we maintain a conservative pay scale?

What is our current wage bill anyway, compared to those above us?

Fuck knows most recent accounts aren't out yet.

What is the new rule about wages and revenue? Our wages year ending 2009 was higher then 70% which I'm sure has something to do with the new rules

presumably a lot of clubs will have to change the way they do things

have a lower basic but have bigger incentives..large bonuses that are not included as monthly wages or something

maybe somethign we have been aiming for previously

From memory here so treat it with due caution.

Didn't we have the sixth/seventh biggest wage bill a while back?

I read on Saturday somewhere that it was about £55m/year or 77% of turnover.

We have to try our best to keep a pay scale. No point trying to compete financially with Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and anyone else willing to pay silly money.

It will stop us becoming a top 4 club, but I dont mind as I'd be happy with comfortable seasons, top 10 and a challenge to get into Europe every year.

Keeping a lid on salaries will keep most players happy in the dressing room, as there will be no 'special cases'.

Can't recall Hettie. At a guess it was a little while after he left. My lad read it in some report published by Deloitte and Touche.
