Default Denial is the only reason some people are sticking up for Bent

I have thought about this again and again like all of us and there is no way I can accept what Bent regarding this transfer request.

Threads such as ''If you were offered a job for much more money would you take it?'' etc are just clutching at straws attempts to defend Bent.

I am very happy with what Bent did for us last year and believed all of his love for the club was real till the transfer request.

Bent potentially could have been a legend to Sunderland fans for years to come, now he will be remembered as somebody who came and did a great job whilst getting paid to do so but left for more money, not for champions league football etc.

The only reason I would have accepted for Bent leaving is if it was family reasons and he came out and said so straight away.

Like a young teenage girl in denial that a boyband is split up, this is similar, people have bought into Darren Bent and his love for SAFC so much they refuse to believe what he has done.

In my opinion you cant defend him - we gave him his career back we got him back in the england squad and he made a massive effort to come here in the first place! and now he wants to leave shocking!!

he has treated us like shit! he owes us everything!

however there is no way he is worth 18-24 million we would have been stupid to reject

there is one word for bent and that is TRAITOR but let him go lets hope villa get relegated then he will be playing in the championship and then we can all laugh at him !!!!

That's not clutching at straws, it's fact. Anyone who thinks a footballer should show fan-like devotion to a club is an idiot.

Can't defend bent, and if he comes back here and gets some stick, so be it. He owes this club a lot for what we done for his career, and he just up and left and the first sniff of cash. Lying bastard.

If i was anywhere else than Sunderland, I'd do the same. He made the right noises while he was here but he's not Sunderland born and bred.

    Nothing to do with?
    - coming from Manchester
    - getting paid loads already at Man U
    - having the greatest trophy earning potential in the country for the whole of his career at Man U

Yes he could have made more money but at that level it is about more and he was already at the best. The only bigger move was abroad and perhaps he likes living in the UK.

or perhaps the reason we arent attacking him and slitting our wrists is because we are realists and know this part of football, regardless of the player

He owes this club fuck all. we begged him to move here from spurs, payed him a nice salary, and in return he scored loads of goals. Now he wants to move for whatever reason and we will make a very handsome profit. Good luck and farewell i say.
