Exclamation Moving For More Money - Is There Really Much Point?

It's clear he's off for more money but how much more will Villa give him compared to what he's getting here? In all honesty they couldn't be giving him anymore than an extra £25,000-£30,000 a week and that's pushing it.

It sounds loads to us but if you were to take £25,000 a week out of Bent's current wages every week he probably wouldn't even notice. That's a sad indication of how crazy wages have become in football but it's true. The lad has got more from signing-on fees in his career than anyone could possibly need to last them a lifetime. He doesn't seem to be the type to run up large gambling debts or other debts from illegal activity, so why the fuck would he want to join a side fighting relegation for the sake of that much extra per week?

It's greed, pure and utter greed.

Hard to understand if true....seemed to have more sense. He was the perfect player for us at the right time, and we were the right club for him. Strange.

Depends on what he does with his money. If I could get paid so much extra in my job that I could pay my parents a wage so they didn't have to work, I would do it. Bent might want to do that for his mum, brothers, sisters etc. He might just want to make enough money so that any children he has never have to want for anything their entire lives. Lets face it, we would all do the same if we weren't SAFC fans.

The more you have the more you want. When he was with the England squad and he is on approx 60 grand a week and a knacker like Wright Phillips is on 80 - 100 grand per week Bent would have been jelous. Anyone would move for more money.

If he is on 60000. 30000 is tax straight away. Out of the 30 he will spend a fortune on Cars, property, every other cool thing that comes out, Money to agents and management companys etc.

He still comes out with a canny chunk compared to what we get but they always need more.

Must be a nightmare only having 20000 per week to get by on.

Forgot to add if anyone wants to up my wages then I will leave, no loyalty. Money matters.

The thing is though mate, he's made enough in signing-on fees already to give them all that sort of financial security.

To be honest I couldn't see myself doing it even if I wasn't an SAFC supporter. If I'm at a club where I'm loved by the fans, have done superbly well in my first season and have a goal tally of almost 1 in 2 in my second, have a nice house, car and have made enough money to support myself and my family financially then I wouldn't move.

Bent has achieved all of the above.
