Depends on where / what type of hernia it is mate.

They'll probably do ultrasound scan and in worse scenario a CT scan.

As for op, depends on whether or not they feel it needs urgent attention or can wait for routine op. They normally do keyhole where possible, and any local hospitals can do it

amazingly so did my fatha, but i work with people who still pull out the old 'i cant do that cos i have a hernia' when it was operated on over 8 years ago.

some people are inherently puffs like, unlike yeh siddall.

Nowt to worry about. Never had a scan when I got mine done, simple cough was all it took to find it. Simple op, doubt very much it will be keyhole surgery, slice it open, stick a bit mesh in, and seal it up, 4 weeks off work, nee lifting for 12 weeks.

Same here, but only the one.

Was done under general anaesthetic. Worst part was in the evening when the anaesthetic had worn off, any slight movement was agony. Collapsed with pain when I tried to get up to go to the toilet without calling the nurse.
