    Default has anyone ever pulled......

    ...or torn an intercostal muscle?

I think I've done mine, left hand side, but round the front. It's not a chest muscle, it feels like it's behind and just below the chest muscle. Did it making a sudden movement.

Can't bend over, can't stand back up, coughing, sneezing, hiccuping, all absolute agony.

Yes, it fucking knacks. I thought I'd broken my back when I did mine jumping drunkenly into a bush a few years ago. Went straight throught the bugger and landed backwards to the side on a sawn off tree stump. Took about 2 months to get right.

And you'll be sleeping on your back for the best part of a fortnight n'all.

    Not necessarily

They are very painful if torn as they aren't in fact of the muscular structure as the rest of the body. Try the usual Ice/Rest and anti-inflams. Need a good massage once the pain has gone but that hurts as well

massage and stretching are also a good preventative measure, and are part of any good excercise regime
