What would you recommend then? Serious question, not a challenge. Curb Your Enthusiasm? Arrested Development? Any British ones? I hardly watch any tv so I don't know!

I haven't watched that much comedy recently on TV, but that Idiot Abroad series made me laugh.

You have literally just said it mate , Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development are superb, I am sure you will like them in a way similar to rising damp.
I wasnt saying Rising Damp isnt good, just that tbf despite the amount of shite on tv nowadays, there are a few programmes which are superb.

Correct.
Today pushing back boundaries means a comedian has carte blanche to attack & get a cheap laugh out of a minority group like the disabled. If anybody questions this type of "humour" the stock replies from the goons who laugh at this shite come thick & fast.

I think I've mentioned this before on here, but my 6 year old daughter absolutely loves:
Morecambe and Wise
The Two Ronnies
Tommy Cooper
Open All Hours
Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em
The Goodies
All shows that I love, as well as some of the more 'modern' ones (!)
