He's talking about packing in altogether. Sounds to me like the bloke has a few problems to sort out which are rightfully a lot more important than his football career

Asking for a transfer doesn't suggest packing the game in though. He's got a contract for another 3 years and he needs to stand by it - he signed the fucking thing, get on with it. If he doesn't turn up or apply himself in training they'll hopefully dock his wages too.

Fair play if thats the case, but actions speak louder than words. If he does retire I'll take my hat off to him for putting family first. But i suspect he wants a few more pay-days.

However, in line with the Club's policy of not negotiating playing contracts mid-season this has not been granted. Carlos' current five-year contract has three-and-a-half years to run and he is the highest paid player at the Manchester City Football Club.
Yaya Toure is one 220k if I'm not mistaken. So Carlos tops that

he knew the situation when he asked for a 5 year deal.....he says he`s homesick...tough...i`ve worked away from home and been homesick, but you just have to get on with it,and for a lot less money than he gets.

Also been trying for an extension? Strange. Surely for about £10m a year his lass could move to Manchester?

Wow, I didn't even know he'd handed in a transfer request.

I'd be surprised if it was all about money, though. Tevez seems a bit eccentric to me; he probably is genuinely homesick. Plus he must be on close to 250k/week - he isn't going to get that anywhere else.

His problem, if he is homesick, is that none of the Argie clubs would be able to afford the kind of transfer fee Man City will demand, given he has over three years left on his contract. So even if he was prepared to take a huge drop in wages, the club won't let him go - which I suppose this website statement confirms.

Seems a bit of a bizarre request to hand-in, to be honest. The best realistic outcome Tevez could hope for would be a move to another European country, probably on less wages. Is Spain or Italy really that much closer to Argentina to cause so much upheaval?
