Two of us stayed overnight after yesterday's game(decent dig's at the Britannia hotel) and talking to some local's who said Wolves are going to increase their capacity to 37000.Quite a few empty seat's yesterday They might end up wondering how to fill their ground just like......

Do they have the fanbase for a 37,000 capacity stadium? The Midlands isnt like up here where there are only really Sunderland and Newcastle to choose from. There's shit loads of clubs there, its almost as bad as Laaandan.

At a guess, nearly 3 million people live in the West Midlands, 250,000 which come from Wolverhampton.

Not sure when you moved to the sol, think it was 97 so had a look at 95/96 season when we last played at roker i believe. at roker attendance was 16,816 at molineux later on in the year 26,537. at the time did you think you'd fill a 42,000 stadium? our chairman does want to make it bigger but another big factor in this is that he wants to bring all 4 stands alot closer to the pitch, as you will know from sitting down the side its quite a distance to the pitch.

Do you think the potential fanbase is there for Wolves though? Although 3 million in West Midlands, I'd imagine people from Coventry support Coventry, people from West Bromwich support West Brom etc.

Similar size city to Sunderland, but Sunderland attract a lot (some say majority) from the surrounding areas.

Maybe not to fill 37,000 every game but i'd expect us to get around the 31-32,000 mark most games thats if we stay in the premiership

We had massive safety restrictions on Roker Park limiting capacity but I'm pretty sure the average would have been around 90% of it's capacity. The biggest end (the roker end) was uncovered and horrendous on cold days like.

Our average in 96/97 was 21k

Not 100% sure and stand to be corrected but didn't Wolves get down to 4000 crowds in the 80's?

Would be surprised if a team like Wolves were looking to build a new stadium at this moment in time.

No disrespect to them of course but in the current climate I would have thought 99% of teams would settle for what they've got at least for a few more years.
