Probably for students. Think they get paid by the hour when needed, that's my experience anyhow.

How do they manage at Uni/college Paddy if they need interpreters for health reasons or are there similar posts in education?

Haven't a clue mate. My son's doing a business degree at Sunderland atm and his group is 30% Chinese, most who speak very little English.

The way it usually works is they'll stick notices up in health centres etc saying if you need help with the lingo please contact such and such a number. If (on the off chance in most cases) someone does, they're prepared and have some to call on. That's the nature of temporary work, as the advert says.
