    Default Part time/Home Learning

Considering doing a part time or home learning course to improve my career prospects, didn't go to Uni so no degree and have pretty much worked since I left college but would love to do some further education in a field I know I'm good at.

The two areas I was considering where, web development and forensic computing. Anyone on here work in either fields and recommend any courses or places of study that offer them?

Working full time at the moment and obviously can't afford to go part time or go into full time education.

    Any advice?

If you're considering the Open University they offer some taster modules for various IT courses here so you can have a look and see what you think.

I'm doing a degree in ICT with the OU. There's no entry requirements. When you register on a course you get assigned a tutor who you can contact via phone, email or the OU's first class software which will be provided, you then get the course materials and start your work.
You have to keep up with the course timetable as there are tutor marked and computer marked assignments every 6 weeks or so, then there is an end of course assessment where the majority of the marks come from.
It's canny like, the course material that I have had has been well put together and it's not too much of a chore to get through.

How the initial signing up/registration? If you don't me asking did you get any funding? How are finding balancing work, studying and the rest of your life?

I'm currently doing the OU course m150, its a level one course with 30 assigned to it. I aim to do a full bsc with honours in some computer field.

I currently work in IT, so finding it okay going at the moment, and I'm balancing it with a full time job, a girlfriend who needs servicing, a 7 year old daughter and a new born. Not easy, so you have to be disciplined.
