Anyone think Carroll is undeserving of an England call-up?
I was having this discussion tonight with a group of my mag mates and for once I actually had to agree with them. I don't see how his personal life and his general demeanour is cause for denying him a chance to play for his country. Still don't like the fella but I don't like the majority of the players who get a game for England for one reason or another. Anyone think of a valid reason why the Capello should leave him out?

Nevermind that twat, according to the papers tomorrow Capello is considering calling up Danny Simpson.
Barrel fully scraped.

It would be nice if Capello had the option of leaving someone out based upon their moral conduct but let's face it, England can hardly be picky. I'd still leave the mag twat out mesel like.

Re: Anyone think Carroll is undeserving of an England call-up?
Considering how long it took Darren Bent to get a real chance to despite being one of the prem's top scorers for years on end, no, I don't think a good start to the season if enough to warrent a starting place for that horrible twat.
Aside from that, I'd like to think character should come into it, certainly where outright criminality is concerned. This is the manager who stripped John Terry of the captaincy for off-the-field misconduct. And if that was a 'team spirit' thing because of him shagging a teammate's lass, then what of the arsehole who broke a teammate's jaw?

Your opinion but like someone has already said, can Capello be as picky as you?
Rooney is injured and even if he wasn't he's bang out of form. Heskey is rightfully retired. Carlton Cole isn't getting goals in a struggling West Ham side. Zamora is injured. Bent looks set to be out injured. The national side has limited options. Aside from this, the bloke has what, 7 goals in the league this season? Can't fault that return. Getting plaudits from as near as his doorstep with Shearer and making footballing brains at the other end of the country like Ancelotti sit up and take notice too. He's blatantly a fuckwit but half of the England side have questionable moral values anyway.

Harewood, Varney, DJ Campbell, Ebanks-Blake and Cameron Jerome will all be fancying their chances of an England call up at this rate.

Nowt to do with morals, he's a prick, we can all see that but my issue is that Capello has already shown us that good form means fuck all (his treatment of Bent). I just want him to apply the same to everyone, he won't like, Carroll will get a call up and the national team will become even harder to support.

Re: Anyone think Carroll is undeserving of an England call-up?
Well, let's me just say right now that he is an absolutely tremendous young footballer. There is no question about that. The lad is a hell of a lot more than a battering ram. Good enough for an England call-up.
That said, I don't think he should be called up. The lad has proven time and time again that he is incapable of keeping his fists to himself and at this stage in his career he needs to see some consequences for his actions and made to see he has to take responsibility for them. What he certainly doesn't need are more rewards.
