Default Article on the branch flag

Reet, I was over in the old country a few weeks ago, taking in the Man U game. Managed to get a few photos with SNQ and the branch flag. I e-mailed them back to the club at their request and got this e-mail back.

    Hi Marc and Fee

I work for Rob Mason, editor of Sunderland's match day programme Red and White. Louise passed on your details to Rob as she thought you might like to be featured in an upcoming edition of the programme.

This season I am working on a series of articles about Sunderland flags. I've seen the photos of you recent trip to the area and if you were interested would like to ask about the flag - what I think would make the article a bit different though would be the fact that you live abroad so I would also feature that side of your story.

Would this be something you would like to do? Given the time difference I would assume you would rather I emailed the questions to you, but would be happy to ring if you prefer.

    Thanks for your time!
    All the best
    Andrew

So, as we all seem to have had some input into the flag and the original concept of a WA supporters club was Toms idea anyway I thought I'd put this out to the forum to gauge the response/thoughts.

Tom, if you want a chat about this send me a PM.

I can't figure out how to post photos on this so sorry to anyone who wanted to se the pictures.....

Reet....heres the e-mail sent back to me with the questions. I guess we will have to put a timescale on replies, so how about I'll revisit this in a week and see what happens.

    Hi Marc and Fee

Apologies for not replying sooner; been a bit of a mad week!

Really pleased that you are keen to be involved. I've put the questions below, but if there is anything you want to leave or add just feel free!! I will try and squeeze as much as I can into the article and I will contact you again nearer the time to make sure you get a copy sent in the post.

    Thanks for your time
    Andrew

What are your full names/where do you live?

History and background of the supporters club/how many members/how often do you get to meet up?

How often can members get over to England, and do they always bring the flag?

Why did you get the flag and who designed it?

I know you both came over recently for a few games and met Niall Quinn; how was the trip? (I assume that is your son in the photos with you?)

And have you met Quinn before whilst here previously?

Why do you support Sunderland; are you from the area originally for example?

What have been your best memories of watching Sunderland, and do you have any particular favourie players?

Finally, I was recently speaking to another flag owner and he is heading off to the Ashes with his SAFC flag. Is Paul Collingwood going to need to look out for your flag at any of the Test games as well?!?!
