He didn't give a free kick, mainly as Gomes had the ball in his hands.

If you take a free kick that's not given, you're probably going to concede.

TBF if you stop the ball with your hand the expected result would be for the ref to give a free kick

    Correct...

Fucking idiot commentators jumping on the back of the ref when he did nothing wrong.

You have to question why the linesmen raised his flag or whatever but you can't blame the ref here.

There's an old saying. It goes "Play to the whistle".

Gomes tried to award himself a free kick. He failed.

Well, you probably can. He should have given a free kick rather than missing the handball/giving an advantage for an obvious handball.

But you can't blame him half as much as the keeper who tries to give himself a free kick.

Haven't seen it yet, but it sounds almost as daft as the one we conceeded against Liverpool.

This is key to the fact that you are wrong in slagging clattenburg. He didn't give it. No free kick. Gomes at fault, acting the clown.

Similar but different, if you know what I mean. The main difference is that it wasn't a free kick, whereas ours was.

But similar confusion/defenders wandering about like bell ends.

Nani takes a dive, blatantly handles it on the ground, and it's waved play on. Awful from Clattenburg.

when clattenburg went to talk to the linesman they surely discussed the fact that nani had handballed it and therefore common sense would say that it shouldn't be a goal.
