just seen the interview on SSN, didnt he get sent off against Shaktar for a brainless tackle in the last minute last season?

harsh to accuse certain teams when Gerrard, Terry, Essien & scholes have put in similar tackles throughout their careers

The problem with Danny Murphys suggestion about getting an organisation to judge retrospectively, is that it would invariably involve some ex-refs and referees are always on the defensive and have a 'stick up for their own' mentality. It's like the refereee's association, they never criticise a ref and always stand by their decisions. Even if they sometimes punish refs by moving them to lower divisions, you get the impression it's to remove the ref from the spotlight a little to protect them from abuse.

If he's on about getting ex-players as judges, I think that's daft as well, because friendships and loyalties are going to mean bias. Besides defenders of last generation are always on about how 'that would never have been a foul in my day'. They tend to judge things by the standards of their own playing days, rather than keeping up with the modern game.

Fat Sam knew exactly what he was buying when he took on Diouf, and exactly what he was buying him for.
Same goes for one or two others.
Best behaviour from now on lads, though look forward to seeing the giant shower of shit that descends on Murphy after his next foul tackle.

Speaking as someone who used to know him quite well I think you're way off line. He's a decent bloke, with a very dry sense of humour.

He could probably write a comment on a internet website without having to descend into the gutter as well.

Have come into contact with DM several times over the years due to my line of work, and have to agree, he's in no way a horrible little twat. In fact, if he is, then god forbid what the rest of the professional footballing world is. Way smarter than 99 per cent of them with a neat line in wry, self-deprecating humour.

I happen to agree with a lot of what he says. He isn't saying no tackling, he's saying players are going in brainlessly at full pelt and that increases the chances of serious injury.

    Why include Barton?

The debate is regarding reckless challenges, Nolan & Cattermole yes but Barton, why?
