    Default Studying/Revising/Learningq

Bit of a daft question this, but what method do you use?

I'll be starting to study for some pretty difficult financial qualifications shortly, but haven't looked at a text book for years

Would everyone agree the old copying notes down and learning them off by heart trick is the best way, or are more modern methods better like recording yourself reading notes and listening to them on your iPod?

Did exactly the same last year mate - hadn't picked a text book up for 10 years. It was hard work but I got the missus to hassle the hell out of me so that I did the work - helped that she was doing the same exams so we could help each other

when reading the trick is to make sure you understand it before you try to learn any of it.
if you think you have to memorise it straight away, no doubt you will not remember any of it by the time you get to the end of what you're reading.

Read it, understand it, make notes. Devise a revision plan and try to stick to it, best thing is to try and get into a routine.

Did financial qualifications a couple of years ago.

I went through the textbook, made good notes on every chapter and then revised the notes. A lot are multiple choice and so make sure you have a bash at the practice examinations.

Also if you are studying through BPP then their online content is very good, including recordings from their classroom based study sessions.

Just read the stuff and learn it in your head. No need for anything else. If you can't memorise it, or have to resort to revison then you are a thick twat and shouldn't be attempting that course.

Simple really, especially in the diluted educational world of today. Today's degrees are the equivalent of a Janet and John book in the 1960's.

There's some free resources to help with study skills on the Open University website http://www.open.ac.uk/skillsforstudy/
