Default Bardsley and reid off in jan?

Just reading Bruces comments on ALS roundup page, saying these two are out of contract in the summer, and a decision will be made in the next few weeks regarding their futures with january in mind.

I can't see either been here for the start of next season

Both good cover. I'd keep them.

Bardsley has just proved his worth as cover - he should stay.

Bardsley has been impressive thus far and hopefully Reid still has something to offer.

So far i would definitely hold onto Bardsley as a squad player but the jury is still out on Reid.

I'd offer Reid a 1 year extension and then tout him around in January. Only worth selling him if we get £2-3 million for him. Otherwise decent cover.

Can see him going to Blackburn or West Ham. No idea why.

It's not just how well a player plays, it's how much money it costs to keep them compared with their benefit to the club.

It's all well and good saying "keep player A as cover" (Bardsley in this case) but not knowing what wage he's on or how important he is to training sessions and team morale, it's not something we as fans can accurately judge.

With Reid it'll be a similar conundrum. How much does he cost the club, what are the benefits of keeping him, how much would we get for him if we sold him, and could we get equally adequate cover for less wages if we did let him go?

There's a lot more to a situation like this than simply how well they performed in their last few matches.

I agree that they are decent cover, but if they don,t sign in the next few weeks, then surely Bruce will listen to offers in january.
Won't get a lot but don't want to let them leave for nowt in the summer. And will they sign knowing they are only back up

I agree but the only thing we will ever really know much about are performances on the pitch so it's all supporters can go off.
