    Default Bill Golightly funeral arrangements

Betty has been in touch to say that Bill's funeral will be on Thursday (Oct 7th).

A private committal ceremony at the crematorium will be followed by a service of thanksgiving to remember Bill's life and achievements. This will be at the Methodist Church in Brown Lane, Heald Green, at 2.15pm and all Bill's friends from the branch are welcome to attend.

No flowers by request and no sombre black outfits please! Betty says she will be pleased to see as many SAFC shirts and scarves as possible.

There will be a collection on the day in Bill's memory with the proceeds going to Christian Aid. Anyone who can't attend the service, but would like to make a donation are asked to do so via Martin or Dave by emailing manchesterbranch@hotmail. co.uk

Just to add: the church is just a few minutes walk from Heald Green railway station and the post-code for any sat-nav users is SK8 3RR.

Heald Green is on the line from Piccadilly Station to Manchester Airport and to walk from the station, turn left after leaving platform; cross road before reaching traffic lights and walk along Daisy Bank Lane. Continue along Styal Road and turn first right into Brown Lane. Methodist Church is a couple of hundred yards down Brown Lane on the right.

Anyone visiting the Heald Green bar & restaurant afterwards can ignore the 'pay and display' signs and get a free parking pass by asking for the duty manager, James, who has been informed that some branch members may be calling in.

There's a map of the local area at www.healdgreenmc.org.uk

Betty has reiterated that red & white shirts and scarves are welcome at the service and, if anyone's going to the Heald Green afterwards, SAFC colours won't be a problem there either.

    Morning All,

I'm at work this morning so I'm unable to wear a Sunderland top (don't listen to Wayne, I do still have some that fit me!) but I will be wearing a scarf.

    See you chaps later today.

Just had a phone call from Betty, she would like to thank everyone from the branch for the red and white turn out today, she's looking forward to seeing you all on the Villa bus. Think we may have been outsung by the Halle choir, but they sounded good to me !
