I fancy one for this coming summer too, hopefully she will have learnt to drive by then and can have the motor and me scooter to work on nice days and jump on the bus/metro on bad days.

However i dont fancy spending a fortune, and as i'm 15 clem i'll more than likely need a decent size engine and do my bike test to shift my fat ass, especially if i go down the A19.
So i want a old one to do up, now i'm a useless c*nt when it comes to stuff like this but her father isnt, he's done up old cars, old boats etc and then just sold them on. He's nearly finished an old Triumph he's doing up and i've mentioned it to him a few times, in the hope he takes pity on me and starts one as his new project. I'm over his for tea tonight, will put some more hints down.

Just for posing on or showing them off marra. If you can't ride something like that then it's time to call it a day on the road

If it's a bad one needing a lot of repair. I recently 'intermediated' if there is such a word for an old box of bits that cost more than that. It depends on age and provenance, for something nice and even without a performance engine of any sort you can budget on a hefty sum. I bet I know the one you're on about, I know quite a few of the Lambretta scene boys. In fact, I know a bloke with four of the fuckers that might might need to create some room. He had one of his on display in 'Reds' hairdressers (wherever that is), and they are all to that standard or better. A word of advice though, they are ludicrously unreliable. They always take a van for breakdowns with them even to rallies that aren't far.

I had a 5 y-o Lambretta Li in the late sixties (probably ’67), chromed up well tidy, two magnificent spot lamps rigged in, and a 6 foot whip attached to the rear bucket seat...... just the ticket, about 10 of us set off to the IoW festival from York, hooded parker, collage scarf wrapped around my neck corduroy hipsters looking for all the world like Steve Winwood brother, less then an hour later passing Selby on the A1 and bang, engine sounded like a bag of hammers followed by a cloud of smoke billowed from the side panels. long story short, left the thing in a lay-by and hitched a ride home on fish wagon.

    Buy a mini mate.
