They are well placed to kick on though. They've suffered a few years while they sorted out the stadium but are now in a better financial position than their established rivals.

Arsenal and the German clubs will be laughing when the financial fair play rules kick in.

although one suspects this rule will be able to be bent slightly

there is no way UEFA are going to not allow the big lads with debts not compete in their tournaments like

Exactly. Clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Man U are in hundreds of millions of debt. There's no way they'd be excluded.

However, hats off to Arsenal. They've been ran very, very well.

    this.

Although there is a transitional phase which will continue over a number of years so the rules don't "kick in" in full for a while yet.

it's stating the obvious but in the last 5 years in England there are not many teams have won anything.

    Man Utd
    Chelsea
    Portsmouth
    Liverpool
    Spurs

As far as progression goes i would say arsenal have had a successful 5 years, certainly more successful than at least 2 of the teams in that list.

That FA cup win was well worth the outlay for pompey. Heading for div 1 with a bullet and still a shitload a debt.
Some on here saying they'd be happy to win the fa or subbuteo cup if it meant relegation. Great idea.
