It's been brought up a few times, but in fairness, before the podcasts they did weekly radio shows for a few years on XFM and Ricky and Steve Merchant said theres no way they'd be able to write that much material in such a short amount of time.

I'd like to think he's like that in real life as he is funnier than Gervais
