To suggest that Bruce had nothing to do with the bent recruitment takes your anti bruce hysteria and pettiness to a brand new level.

I am not anti-Bruce, I am just concerned as to why he's signed 4 defenders, none of which are left backs and Andy Reid is the only person comfortable on the left of midfield in the first team squad.

I don't think Bent signing had anything to do with "Roll Over Ricky", "Runaway Roy" or Bubbly Brucey. I think it was a good move for him after his spell at Spurs was deemed a failure and Sunderland presumably offered him a competitive package. I'm not saying that the move was over Bruce's head, although I am not privy to the mechanics of player recruitment at the club, nor can I think of a reason why Bruce would have objected.

My point is that it was an on-going thing for a year before he signed and it wasn't like Bruce pulled an unknown non-leaguer out of his arse and deserves high praise for that.

Anyway, I think Bruce seems to have done a mostly good job, but I know nothing about how he performs day to day. I'm content that Sunderland seem to be an established Prem team, I just feel like our squad has gone backwards this summer.
