The SAFC Delusion
watching Richard Dawkins on More4 and can't help seeing similarities between the delusion and blind faith that the right wing evangelical idiots are demonstrating and our blindness we are being expected to show.
Feeling very deluded at the moment and my faith is lapsing.
I've had a Season Ticket since early eighties and been through all the troughs of despair and relagations, 3rd division etc. but by far the worst feeling is my current indifference which I am starting to feel about our current mediocrity.
We are becoming very boring.
Meanwhile those up the road are stoking their fanaticism.

Re: The SAFC Delusion
I'll never understand why our fans only seem happy with the extremes. Honestly, why does it seem more people were pleased when we were a yoyo club rather than now?
I'd be more than happy with a boring season, with no three month winless streak, no injury filled squad, no relegation scap, no getting carried away about Europe.

Give over man. Much prefer these days to those in the depths of Gillingham, Aldershot etc.
Terrific stadium, increased crowds, better squads, Chairman in touch with the supporters, and 3 seasons in top flight on the belt!
OK the footy is not so good but hey, give me 3 points every week and crap football anyday.

Comparing religion and football are 2 things which are often compared to each other on the smb

...and Brucies 12 years into a fairly mediocre managerial career, where about the only excitement he has ever created has been the occasional bust-up with match officials and club owners.

Mention of the Aldershot game rang a bell here. Shaken to the core would be an understatement.
