    Default Graphic card question

    Ok, PC geeks -

I built a PC a couple of years ago, around a 8800 Ultra, cpu is a 6600 quad core. Is this card now classed as outdated ?

It seems to play everything OK, but was thinking of building a new PC, is it worth it yet, if so whats the new top card ?

If it's working well for you, why change it?

Pretty much, yes. It doesn't support DirectX 11 features for starters.

The top cards from both manufacturers are pretty close these days. I think the AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5970 is the best card on the market at the minute though.

You may need to check if you have enough power connectors like, it needs a 6-pin 75W and a PCI-E 8-pin 150W connector.

PC games that require top end systems are few and far between these days though.

Aye, from experience I tend to try and stay away from Nvidia. Cracking cards but they can be unstable as fuck.

My old desktop has two 8800GT's, cracking cards - probably the best performance for value at the time, but they're stupidly expensive again now after they enjoyed a short spell of being the better cards.
