    Default Gaming computers

Looking at getting a new desktop machine for online gaming as I fancy a new one for the winter months.

Had two Alienware laptops and had bad experiences with both, first one overheated all the time and the second one's display threw its hand in after less than a year. Fucking shite.

Any recommendations? I heard Rock are quite good. Budget £1,500-2000

Well laptops and gaming don't really mix man

Very healthy budget that. Your main consideration should be whether you're going to buy 2 GPU's or 1 then build a system around the cards, the rest will take care of itself..oh and go AMD for the CPU, Intel are overpriced.

Build your own. It'll work out cheaper, and you can get exactly what you want.

I just had the laptops seeing as I worked away and needed a bit of entertainment on the road. They are canny for mid-level games like but struggle a bit online and that.

Not sure about building my own, I wouldn't trust myself to be honest, rather get a professional to do it properly and to make it last for that kind of cash.

How easy is it to build your own?

Unless you intend playing stuff like Crysis on a 26” plus monitor I reckon a grand would be more than enough for a decent spec

£1500 should get you an i7, 8gigs of RAM and a couple of 5870’s in Crossfire, plus mebbes a SSD and a shitload of storage.

I used a shop on ebay for mine last year, quality and service spot on and cheaper than some of the custom pc building websites out there.

I bought my last one 2 years ago from scan.co.uk and its been great. Totally capable, even now, of playing anything I put on it on max settings.

I chose the spec and had it delivered in a couple of weeks. If you're not happy building it yourself this is the way to go.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Water-Cooled-W...ing_DesktopPCs

There you go, water cooled and overclocked with a 5970 for well within yer budget.

Give them a ring and I'm sure you could get a SSD in for a few quid more and still fall within the lower end of your budget.
