As Bruce is no doubt doing I would chase a striker that is likely to win things in the air (crouch would be ideal as he is also canny on the ground but it is unlikely we'd get him, Gyan would do as well), I'd spend the money to get N'Zogbia and away from home I would go 4-5-1 to avoid being overran in midfield. I would also look at loaning in a keeper for 3 months- I dont think Mignolet looks ready for an extended run in the team at this point, and I dont think it is fair on the lad (if he makes a few costly errors it could wreck his confidence and lead to him never making it here)

Mind, I'd be a shit manager, so we'd probably be considerably worse if I was in charge

Agree with everything (except about Crouch being ideal).

We are in desperate need of someone who can create and right now N'Zogbia is as good as anyone we can get and at a very reasonable price.

A striker who can link up the midfield and attack is also crucial. Whether this should be a Robbie Keane type link up player or more of a target man i'm not sure.

Mingolet doesn't look ready for Premiership football. If Gordon is to return before the end of September then perhaps we can risk it, any longer than that and we need a keeper in.

Other than that it's all about allowing the new players time to settle in to the squad and learn to play together.
