Default Kenwyne Jones - good business all round

Good for Stoke: I think he'll do well for them.

Good for us: Last season he was very average, probably a good time to cash in and move him on.

Good for KJ: He'll be rejuvenated in a team whose style will suit him to a tee.

It is not good business for us. We are weaker then yesterday, and we will still be weaker when his replacement turns up, we won't be signing a better player than Jones.

You don't know that. What if we sign someone who isn't quite as good but is more consistent in their application and performance - surely that is a good thing?

He would have had an average season at best, and would have left in Jan for 3m less than we got. He's not the player he was 18 months ago, he doesn't gel with Benty and Campbell's coming up fast.

Nope - we're not as strong as we were this morning. But that's football; gambling on players' consistency is better trusted to those who see them every day.
    In Bruce we Trust.

We were weaker in pre-season with Jones in the side, when Jones wasn't playing we played far, far better.

Why take the risk of that carrying on into the season if someone is willing to give big money for him?

We have got a good price for him, if a scout watched him 'on his day' you would think he was double the money, if the same scout returned on one of his many off days then we would be lucky to get 3 or 4 million.

If we sign some Carlos Kickaball for 10million+ tomorrow even though they will never have seen him play, the nackers will be happy and Jones will be but a distant memory.
