I know this has been done a lot but couldn't find anything conclusive from previous posts but does anyone have any links for starting out with newsgroups, don't have a clue where to start cheers

Subscribe to newzbin to download the nzb files. Then download a program like Grabit to download the file itself

is newzbin like a torrent site i.e. isohunt from which to find files to download?

Firstly, who is your internet provider? And go to the grabit website, IIRC they have an 'how to' section.

Yes.

You need 3 things:
An account with newsgroup server (Astraweb, Giganet are popular or your ISP may give good access to newsgroups)
An indexing site (like newzbin, that allows easy search as you would a torrent site)
A newsreader (like grabit for downloading).

You'll generally pay for each service, although Grabit is free and some indexing sites allow free searching for stuff that has been posted in last 21 days(ish).

Ah. It's easier with Virgin as they have their own server, but you can get get there for a small premium with other isp's, and the service is better.

got grabit and going to signup with astraweb $10 and unlimited use. Just need a good site to find the files can anyone recommend one?

I think newzbin is regarded as the best.
