    Default Caxton fx Debit Card

Ideal for your holiday exchange money etc, also no charges when booking flights with RyanAir etc.
Nationwide to stop their no charge overseas accounts.

Cheers, I'm going away in November, just after Nationwide bump their charges, I'll be looking for an alternative.

Yeah, they no longer want people to bank with them who only use the card for going overseas.

Maybe they should just open an account where it's free if you use it as the main account though. They're hoping to lose about 1 million customers by doing this.

Last time I went on holiday I took a Caxtonfx card and a Nationwide card and withdrew the same amount on each, two minutes apart. Checked the rates when we got back and the better rate was on the Caxtonfx card.

I know how to enjoy myself on holiday.

Aye they are trying to stop people using their NW account as a free service abroad.
My Nw account is my main account so it looks like they are offering free travel insurance instead.

As you say....looks like prepay debit cards are the way ahead

We've got the MyTravelCash card - 50p per transaction on Ryanair.

The Rational FX one seems good, very slightly lower rate than Fairfx, no charges for use apart from 1.50 Euro for ATM withdrawls.

Quidco cashback on both Rational and Mytravel too.

Where were you as Nationwide's Euro rates have always been, and still are, better than Carlton. They apply a fee outside of Europe though so it might be close there.
